Also included are the necessary 24volt adapter and wall charging plug.

The percussion massage gun has many features. Charging the unit for three to four will produce a running time of two to three hours, all dependent upon its use.

There are six speeds you can use the button on the back to obtain.
The first speed produces a vibration speed of 1800 rpm

The bright LED screen on the back,  displays the speed level you are using as well as the battery percentage still available.  You can also glance at the LED ring around the battery to giving you the level power of the battery.

The best percussion massage gun I have used. Very powerful and super quiet.

In a holding pattern

This issue I am having with my Plantar Fasciitis is in a holding patter.  The wrap the podiatrist put on it for a week, brought down the inflammation in it. The wrap came off the other day and I have a few options to take in consideration.

Here are my three options

1. Continue to ice (Frozen Peaz) it numerous times a day and increase my leg and foot stretches.

2. A cortisone shot, in my foot, to reduce the pain. The pain would go away for about six months, if I went this option.

3. Be fitted and casted for new orthotics.

For now I have chosen number one.  I am increasing the stretches and icing to get my foot back on my own.
I am also using kinesiology tape to help support the plantar fascia.

A recovery breakfast after a hard ride

The last few weeks I have put in 50 miler on the road bike. On average I use about 1,000 an hour. Of course I consume some gels and an energy bar to start the ride. I also drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.
I put together a quick and easy breakfast when I got home.
Three scrambled eggs, four slices of bacon and an avocado to top it off. Put a little Sriracha sauce on top and I was on my way to recovery.

What are your go-to meals, food after a good workout? I would be interested in knowing and trying out.

Putting two recovery sandals to the test Oofos vs. Telic

Telic  vs. Oofos

I have not been paid to say any of this, and both these sandals I purchased…… or got for a gift from a family member.

Both claim to be recovery sandals, but which one is better.

Having worn both of them after running, swimming and cycling. Walking around the house, around the pool and all around, I have my favorite putting these toe to toe.

Wearing a good set of supportive footwear can reduce stress on your feet, legs and go up the body into the back.

Both sandals fit with the strap going between the big and second toe.
They both do a great job in letting your feet stretch out after being inside a running shoe or standing on your feet for a long period of time.
But let’s take a look at each one separately.

The Telic has a deep heal cup and contoured bottom, a rocker styled textured sole and textured footbed. They are light. There is an arch support, but lacks in solidness.

The Oofos also have a deep heal cup, but I have found the heal cup to be a bit deeper than Telic’s.  It too has a contoured rocker style sole, with some texture, but has bigger groves. They also have a textured footbed.  They too are light. The arch support is very good. Although the Telic’s felt good when slipping them on, these tend to be more inviting to your feet.

After wearing both of them I find the clear winner is the Oofos.  They just offer better support and have a more cushiony comfy feeling.  Get yourself a pair of these very comfortable sandals.

Promera Sports ALPHA Recovery PLUS

Promera Sports ALPHA Recovery PLUS

The great tasting Orchard Apple flavor is enjoyable. It’s got a tart taste, but is refreshing after a workout session.  Besides the Orchard Apple flavor, it also comes in a Lime Margarita flavor.  I have been taking one or the other,  mixed in water using the provided scoop inside.  Using it to help me recover faster from my workouts, helping reduce the inflammation and muscle soreness helping fight the lactic acid build up. The blend of Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium and Potassium all are part of this recovery mix. There is also BCAA that are also crucial for recovery.  Inside the mix is also an inflammation compound they use which is Alpha-GEE. I feel great after drinking the mix and have made it a part of my workout routine.  It is easy on my stomach and causes no GI issues.

OS1st FS6, Foot Sleeve for help with plantar fasciitis

OS1st FS6, Foot Sleeve

First off, I don’t suffer from plantar fasciitis, however these OS1st are still great for any type of support of compression.  These are a sleeve.  (FS6), so it’s really not a sock. Your toes are free to move around and actually I like that. I know in many places it’s a crime, or it should be wear socks with sandals, but once again these are not socks, but sleeves. So go for it.  No, really, in all honesty I like the toe area being open because now I can wear them with sandals. Paired with my favorite pair of sandals, it allows the sandal to fit, sliding with the sandal between the first and second toes.
These sleeves help support the foot structure and most importantly the Achilies tendon. They can be worn for recovery or during activity. I am not a fan of adding an extra layer of sock material inside my running shoes, but it is an option. They can be worn under a pair of walking or dress shoes, under your socks.
After a half-marathon, I wore them to help recover by wearing them to bed, to help my feet recover faster. They are comfortable breathable. The compression is great.

Check them out for yourself if you suffer from Plantar Fasciitis, these might just help with your condition.

Four Years Later

What took so long?  That's a great question, and I guess I really have no answers for.
I've kept active, road cycling and mountain biking, with some running.
Four years after having my left knee's MCL repaired. Recovery and rehab took about a month or two. I have done a few short sprint triathlons over the past four years, but nothing really run focused. November 11, 2018, I will run the longest distance (14 miles) since that simple surgery. I have peaked in training at 10.5 miles. Sure, I could say there wasn't time to train or I was busy with other endeavors, and that would be correct. I have always had a love/hate with running.

Who's happier in this image? My mom or me as I came out of anesthesia from the surgery.
(Note: I was still a little out of it as you might notice I put my shirt on backwards)
One note the doctor told me as I marked with a sharpie marker, which knee they were operating on, that he would have be back running, and this weekend it is.

Images of the surgery the doctor took inside.

I am excited. I have a few mental goals and time goals I am shooting for. The weather, now that it is fall and cooling off, will be perfect.

Amazing workouts this weekend

The weekend started with a long run on Saturday morning. The 8.5 mile run was on the same loop I did last weekend on the desert trail.
I am getting used to the new shoes I got maybe about a month ago.  Made an adjustment in them using my own footbeds inside. I write about these footbeds here shortly, but I have used them in the past and that's one of the reasons I have gone back to them. Sure I have tried and used others, but these are the best I have found out there.
Back to the weekend of training.

I worked on getting my heart rate in my Zone 4. I kept it there for the majority of the run. I got in a groove and just felt good out on the trail. Cooler weather was nice as I was able to get out about 15 minutes before the sun rise. Nutrition and hydration where both good. I was able to get in an extra half mile over my previous run out there in the same amount of time.
I looked forward to a group cycling ride Sunday morning for my recovery. A slow, max speed of 16 MPH group ride. The 26 miles helped my legs recover well. A few hours after the ride, I joined members of my family for a "Leg Day" workout. Using dumbbells and other weights along with resistance bands. Doing wall sits, walking lunges, squats and lateral side steps. Last week's leg workout had me sore the next day. Today, I recovered from it pretty well. Not sore, but a little stiff. All good and felt great getting these workouts in.
Working on resistance band workouts and looking forward to some shorter runs this week.

Con-Cret!, Creatine HCI (Creatine Hydrochloride)

I am excited to be using Con-Cret!. The Creatine HCI (Creatine Hydrochloride) in Con-Cret will help with my endurance, increasing my strength and speeding up my muscle recovery.  Although I am not logging as many hours on the bike right now, I am working more with my weights. Wanting to build up some muscle this Winter and prepare for Spring.
I am using the Con-Cret as directed. I take the power, two scoops, being I weigh just over 200 pounds. One scoop for every 100 pounds. The scoop is included inside the container. It can be taken before or after a training session.  Each scoop provides 750mg of Creatine HCI (Creatine Hydrochloride). I have tried both the Blue Raspberry and Watermelon flavors. Both very spot on to the taste. For those that don’t like to mix flavors in their drinks or find a flavor they like you can always take the supplement in a capsule form. They both have the same dosing, 1 capsule for every 100 pounds. Both the capsules and flavored powder have the same amount of doses in them.  They are easy on the stomach, even when taken on an empty stomach. Increase my water intake to help saturate my muscles with the Con-Cret Creatine HCI.

I want to extend a discount for those that would like to try it themselves. For followers of mine, either twitter or my blog, you can get a 25 percent off discount by using the code “SMHacker25” when ordering.
