Yes, I have been cheating!

Yes, I have been cheating! On Alexa and Siri, using Audrey Says, the voice inside the Aftershokz wireless headset letting you know when the unit is powered on and keeps you informed on the battery power level.

Wearing these allows you to hear your music but at the same time not cut your hearing off from your surroundings. You are still able to hear what’s around you.
I love that they are sweat resistant, not waterproof. They are not to be submerged in water.
Use the button on the left side to play, skip or pause your music, and behind my right ear I have the volume controls. Easy to operate without seeing the buttons. Even wearing glasses or sunglasses, the wrap around the ear and the back of the head design is very comfortable.
The quality of the sound produced by this headset is incredible. Very crisp and clean audio.
This model of Trekz Air’s is the Canyon Red color.
Pairs easily with you smartphone using Bluetooth 4.2

Six hour battery life, is typically longer than my longest workouts using them.
Not only are they great work listening to music with while working out, they are a great hands-free option to use for taking phone calls. I've worn them while on public transit to listen to a podcast while commuting. They still allow me to hear traffic noise, so not completely blocking off the ambient sound.  When they are paired with your smartphone.

With Father’s Day and graduations coming up, these would be great gift.

AfterShokz Trekz Air Wireless Headphones

As a busy parent commuting to sports practices, school and work, I can still be attached with my smartphone using the AfterShokz Trekz Air wireless headset.

AfterShokz Trekz Air Wireless Headphones use bone conduction technology, so there is no need to insert them in your ears. This super light headset is so light you will forget you’re wearing it.

Charges with a simple micro-USB cord, it comes with.

Power on/off button, USB charging port, volume controls

Wearing these allows you to hear your music but at the same time not cut your hearing off from your surroundings. You are still able to hear what’s around you.

Using in my vehicle, when my only other option was to use an AM radio!

Week and weekend recap

Eight mile trail run to start off Labor Day!

This past weekend, a three-day, Labor Day holiday weekend, I moved my long run to Monday.
Saturday I joined a group bike ride, for 33 miles. I did the same route a week ago with the same group. This time the heat was back in the desert. I still had a great time and focused on my heart rate staying high in the long mountain climb.  I was surprised for not having the amount of food (fuel) I had before hand I felt really good. Kept up on the hydration.
Took Sunday off to recover and slept in a little, which is rare.
Monday, I set out on an early morning start trail run. I planned on at least six miles and was able to get a total of eight in before heading back to the vehicle. A little cloud cover and rain the night before had the air temperature down and felt good.

Solid Weekend of Training

A great solid weekend of training.  I am getting more fit, getting my heart-rate in my Zone 3 for long periods of time and feeling more comfortable. It’s a little bit of a stretch to get it into my Zone 4 and keep it there, but I am working on it.

My weekend workouts are my longer ones keeping my shorter cardio workouts and weight sessions during the week.
Last weekend I was able to get a seven mile run in on Saturday. It was very hot and muggy early in the day, but got it done. Followed it up Sunday with a 34 mile road ride with some good climbing. A 3.5 mile hill climb to be in fact. Bouncing back from the workouts is getting easier.
I worked this weekend on fueling a little better than last week. Hydration played a key roll in Sunday’s ride.
To help me stay on top of my hydration game and keeping cool, I really relied on heavily the use of my Spruzza Mist system. The hill climb had me going around 8 MPH so a lot of the cooling air effect wasn't kicking in. The added misting I did, spraying both my chest, opening up my jersey in the front, and misting both sides of my head and ears really kept me from over heating. I knew early on in the ride, I was going to be using it a lot with the hot sun rising as fast as it was without cloud cover.
It’s amazing what either a new pair of shoes can do or not running in “zero-drop” shoes.  I can’t tell because the shoes I have been running in the past year are really broken down, or the “zero-drop” shoes they were made my legs sore. After wearing and testing out a new set of kicks on Saturday’s seven mile run, I recovered very fast and didn’t feel it the next day.
I should have done this a long time ago, but just kept putting it off.
Training is going well and I am very happy where I am at this point in the game.

TREKZ Titanium Bluetooth headphones by AfterShokz

I’ve been using the TREKZ Titanium Bluetooth headphones by AfterShokz while running and using my indoor cycling rollers. These headphones sit right outside in the front of your ear sitting on your jawbone. The sound travels through bone-conduction. The sound is great. Pair it with your smartphone, which is very easy to do. The headset is very comfortable and can even be worn while still wearing glasses. The main purpose of these headphones is to allow you to hear better what is around you and not totally cutting out ambient sound. It’s an open ear design. Obviously, I would never wear these while riding bike in traffic or out on the street, but I do wear them running and they still allow me to hear the world around me. After charging up the unit, with the provided micro-USB cord, it will return about six hours of play time. Although they are not water proof, can’t be submerged, they are sweat resistant. The headphones come with two fit bands, for those with smaller heads, a micro-USB charging cord, two ear plugs, that help block out noise into the ear canal as well as a storage case.
The headphones can be used to take phone calls as well as listen to music. According to the person on the other end of the phone, the quality of the voice in the call is excellent. By the way, I’ve even used them while out mowing the yard and having them synched to my smartphone playing music.
