Version 1.12.36 Suunto Spartan Software Update

What does updating the new software to the Suunto Spartan offer? Version 1.12.36 adds Training Heart Rate Zones. Great addition to an already great heart rate monitor/ GPS watch. This is a great addition to an already incredible device. Sure you can look down at your watch for the heart rate number, but just glancing down at the watch face, you can determine what zone you are in quickly. The watch records the time spent in each zone so when going over data after a workout you can see how you performed.

Lizard Mad mobility band

Adding the Lizard Mad mobility band, made of latex has brought a new addition to my workouts.  I have the dark blue Lizard Mad band, with its resistance being rated at 35 to 65 pounds. The large loop, about 41 1/2 inches long, folded. It is super flexible. Not needing it to be that length? Simply shorten the loop by tying a small knot, which can easily be removed after your specific stretch, workout.  A super useful exercise I perform with the band, among a ton of others, is a squat.  Step on the band on the floor, a loop of the band in either hand. Straighten out your arms and use your legs to push upward. Make sure to keep your arms straight, but the majority of the work is being done by your upper legs. The band is super strong and will not break. I am always finding new ways, workouts, stretches to use the Lizard Mad band with.  The band comes with a five-year quality guarantee.

JUNYU wide sports headband

Inside workouts this time of year have me sweating all over the place. A sweat bands from the 80’s are doable but I have begun using a fashionable and versatile JUNYU wide sports headband. The 16 inch long, stretchy fabric tube can be used many different ways. I mainly use them scrunched up over my forehead wrapping around my head. The microfiber is sweat-absorbent.  The headband can be used as a scarf, a face wrap ( in dusty or cold situations) or as balaclava, a pony-tail holder, or like a bandana. I’ve even double looped the headband as a wrist-band to help wipe sweat off my face during a workout. The different patterns of the set of eight headbands are a cool camouflage design. The company makes a bunch of other designs too.

Trion:Z magnetic technology bracelets

Over the past few months I have been wearing one of three Trion:Z magnetic technology bracelets. The Zen Loop Duo, the Zen Loop Solo and finally the Z Maxi Loop. The Z Maxi Loop have been worn the most being in and out of the pool, as the others have some fabric involved in them and would take a while to dry before putting back on. The bracelets all provide continuous exposure to negative ions and this new science is believed to speed up recovery time after strenuous activity, promote balance and act as an anti-depressant, and improve mental performance.  All of them have gauss magnets and are infused ION CORE™ producing over 1,500 negative ions per second. I have felt much better wearing them. A lessening in soreness after working out.

2018 is here!

2018 is here!
I have some big goals and ideas I want to tackle here in 2018.  A big one is incorporating more weights in my workouts. Becoming stronger on the road and mountain bike. I have been putting together a workout and training plan that will help me improve not only my power on the bike but endurance as well.
As I get started with my training program for the year, I am continuing my roller workouts either at my house or bringing the rollers with me.
