2021 is off to a great start

I am starting off working on the basics with my mountain biking. Hitting the weights Mondays and Wednesdays with cardio on the training rollers happening on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Heart rate Zones are key when I am doing cardio. With the weight sessions, it is not as much for max weight yet decent weight with high reps.

I ventured out on the mountain bike trail for the first time this year, yesterday. Wasn’t a long ride, just over four miles. Feeling good.  With my main goal this year is to hit a 50 mile ride on my 50th birthday, in mid October. I feel it’s an obtainable goal. The weight sessions I am putting in now will be a great foundation for helping in that goal.

Did it, but barely.

I finished the 100 miles of cycling I had set out for my goal last week.  With about 25 miles to go, I came down with a cold, so the rest of the goal was tough.
I did 12.5 of the miles on mountain bike.
On an evening road ride, I was 8 miles into what was planned at 10 until a severe rear flat. The flat was a pinch flat or blow out, I can't tell exactly. The ride ended abruptly having me walk home about  a mile. I was in a good groove and pace and the weather was cooling off from the daytime heat.
I turned around the next day and finished up the last day with an easy three mile ride around the neighborhood on a different bike.
The summer heat is for sure here.  I have a series of four videos coming out, and will link them back to my blog here.  The videos are about different products that will help keep riders cool in the summer. They keep you outside and on the road as opposed to riding indoors on a boring trainer. Stay tuned.

2018 is here!

2018 is here!
I have some big goals and ideas I want to tackle here in 2018.  A big one is incorporating more weights in my workouts. Becoming stronger on the road and mountain bike. I have been putting together a workout and training plan that will help me improve not only my power on the bike but endurance as well.
As I get started with my training program for the year, I am continuing my roller workouts either at my house or bringing the rollers with me.

2017 is here. Many things I want to accomplish.

Over the holidays I took some much needed time off to spend with family and friends. Relaxed and started some planning of my year ahead.  2017 is here and I have many things this year I want to accomplish.  I have put in place a strength program I hope to build on.  I have done the program before and looking forward to take it to the next level.

Great expectations for 2012

With 2012 starting tomorrow I have a bunch of goals on my achieve list.    A few of them are improving my times on races I did last year as well as compete in my first Xterra triathlon.  Sure it's easy to write down goals and dream big, my goals are not so far out there they can't be obtained with some hard effort and strong determination. I look forward to the new year with great expectations.
Here is wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
