Summer is upon us, training going well

I am in the middle of training for a race at the end of August and things are working out for now. There might be another race I can add to my calendar for mid October. With the weight training program along with the riding out on the trail I should ready come race day.

The weather is warming up here in Arizona, so my spin training rides as well as my weight training are looking to move indoors to cooler temperatures. The garage gym turns into an instant sweat box as my workout gets going.

I have been able to get up north, to Flagstaff, here in Arizona and get some much needed trail miles in. Not only was is cooler weather but was at elevation, about 7,000 feet above sea level. A great thing about this training was it at the area where my end of August race will take place.

BOOM! Nothing makes training more important......

BOOM!  Nothing makes training more important than signing up for a race. It gets real and will get even more real as the day draws closer.
I have a ways to go to get where I want to be before race day.

Race week is here

Training is almost done and I am looking forward to getting out on the course Saturday.  I have made a few mechanical adjustments to my bike and just need to start getting my transition bag put together.  The weather should be a little cool at the start, especially after getting out of the water an onto the bike.  A few more training runs and rides and Saturday will be here.

A look ahead at race day

In looking at the weather forecast, it is looking like a 30% chance of thunderstorms.  Not the best weather to ride in but knowing will help plan what I wear.
After last weekend long ride I know finishing in under 4 hours is my goal.  There are some steep climbs but great down hills to pick up speed and time.  I have my nutrition plan down and am started to get excited. Should be a fun fast race.
Last Saturday I thought I was going to freeze and could not wait for the sun to break through the clouds.  A few easy rides this week on the rollers and out on the road are on the schedule leading up to race day.
