X-1 Audio Waterproof Cases

I have been using X-1 by H2O Audio waterproof headphone systems for years now. A great way to enjoy music without having to worry about sweat or water damaging your electronics.  I was using Surge headphones attached to a swim belt in which my iPod 3rd generation Nano was safely inside a case providing me numerous hour of enjoyable quality workouts in the pool. With wanting to do flip turns, the cord which ran along my back, I was afraid would get in the way.  So I decided to get another waterproof case from X-1.

The case I got was the Interval 4G system which holds the 4th generation iPod shuffle and attaches to the goggles strap.  Out of the way from swinging arms while swimming.  I now use the other case I have for running on the treadmill or riding my bike on the indoor rollers.

I had the custom ear molds made at Gold Canyon Hearing, helping to make sure the ear phones stay in place.  The smallest bit of water still gets in my ears, but the custom molds totally help with ear issues with water in the ear. The set up is awesome. I fire up a good playlist and away I go.  Swim workouts are very enjoyable and the music helps me stay focused.  Really the only drawback is losing track of time and laps.  Summer has unofficially come to an end with Labor Day and so has my season pass to the local pool.

Swimming is taking shape

I am excited to say I ditched the gym pool and scored a great deal on the local aquatics facility.  The facility was used this last spring for Olympic trials.  Anyway, the pool at the gym I belong to is 14 meters long so just as I was getting up speed and getting into the groove the wall was there. The lanes here are set up for 25 yard lengths.  I get there for my early morning workout at 5am and am either the only one there or one of four others swimming at that time.  I plug into my X-1 audio underwater headphones on my workout is done before I know it.  I have been working on my form and arm position for now and will focus on speed in a couple of weeks.  Feels great to be working out in such a great facility.

New tunes to keep me moving

So hear it is, pun intended.  Whether I am running, riding the rollers or swimming wearing my H2O Audio set up I will be listening to some great tunes. The playlist is almost 50 minutes long and consists of
  • Headlines                      Drake
  • Brighter Than the Sun  Colbie Caillat
  • Ass Back Home      Gym Class Heroes
  • Blackout                   Breathe Carolina
  • I Like It Like That    Hot Chelle Rae
  • Ni**as in Paris          Kanye West & JAY Z
  • Turn Me On               David Guetta & Nicki Minaj
  • International Love      Pitbull
  • Right Above It           Lil Wayne & Drake
  • What's My Name?    Rihanna & Drake
  • Not Afraid                Eminem
  • Rhythm of Love       Plain White T's
  • 4 Minutes                  Madonna
  • Crushcrushcrush       Paramore

With the shuffle option on the iPod the order will never get old.
I tried looking at old CD's, yes I said CD's I purchased over the past 15 or so years but nothing seemed to keep my interest or sound good.

More comfort in the water

For some, custom Orthotics are the key to helping their feet and knees. For me, I have been wearing H2O Audio's underwater iPod case during swim workouts in the pool for well over two-years now. It was not until recently I had been having difficulty with them staying in my ears as I swim. The headphones are great, don't get me wrong, I just needed a little better fit. I found out from some great friends over at Gold Canyon Hearing, is that my ear canals are very small and awkward shaped. They were able to help me out by starting off with making custom ear molds taken in their office. They were able then to have made custom earphones made from the molds. AWESOME! is really all I can say. Come to find out, for those not wanting to listen to music but just keep water out of your ears during swimming, they can also make custom ear plugs made. If the ear plug should ever come out while swimming (which it should not, its made to fit your ear) they float! If your in need of help, look them up Gold Canyon Hearing, located in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Tell Mark or Lisa, owners of the family owned business, I sent you.

Hope everyone can "hear" me when I say this!

Its no secret, but some out there are not aware of a great tool when it comes to swimming. I have been using the H2O Audio set up for my iPod for over two years now. With training looking to increase, for half-iron distance training, in the pool I will be using it more often. I would say the invention of the iPod is great, but the H2O Audio cases and headphones improved it. Time spent looking at the black line on the bottom of the pool or listening to bubbles going by your ears can really get boring after awhile. The first time I used my set up I instantly fell in love with it, having then to worry about keeping my iPod charged so my workouts would be flawless. I am looking at adding more great music to my iPod to keep the training going and putting together some high energy playlists.
