This bottle cage is a great way to save a little weight.  No it’s not carbon fiber, but a light plastic. "Living in the Big Ring" question answered

I've had some readers of my blog ask about its name and why I have been calling it "Living in the Big Ring" for the past nine years.  As a cyclist, it refers to the big chain ring which is the hardest to pedal in, yet maximum speed is achieved while using it.  It also refers to me as a three-ring circus if you will. Trying to balance the triathlon lifestyle along with having a family and a full time job.  They all

work together for accomplishing a goal. The three-ring circus also then refers to triathlon, with the swimming, the cycling and the running.

This Bluetooth Smart bike light is very innovative and impressive. The numerous features, with more being added with firmware updates. This bike light with its theft and crash detection options is a must have for any cyclist. The dual CREE LED's are bright enough for being very visible for daytime use. The bike tail light comes in the option of 2x95 Lumen or 2x125 Lumen brightnesses. I love the option of the dimming the light on group rides, as you don’t want to blind the rider, if there is one behind you. If you are out riding by yourself, then turning it up the max brightness. The theft detection option will allow you to get about 100 feet away from your bike (light attached of course) and you being alerted as to when your bike has moved or motion has occurred to the light somehow.  When playing with the light in this option, my son and daughter had fun trying to see if they could walk away with the light in their hand from the coffee table after the alarm was set to go off. A car horn sound as well as alert message appear on the phone telling you to check on your bike. Typically on a group ride, others watch your bike for you while running in to use the bathroom or get more water at a convince store. This is great, because that means, I can take a bathroom break, if I am out riding by myself and know my bike being guarded by the ICON if the small lock I carry isn’t enough to slow down a would be thief. I am just super impressed with first of all the brightness and flash patterns the light provides.

First off you may note, "Dang, that looks fast" and you would be right, it is fast. I have installed for this weekend's race a AeroJacket by Wheelbuilder.com.  This converts your everyday wheels or wheels you may train on into a disc at smaller price then buying a real disc wheel.  Simply fill out the order form on their website to have them custom cut to fit most wheels.  There are some wheels in which they won't fit, so check out their list first.  Their customer service folks can help answer any questions and help you out to get exactly what you need. They are simple to install, with the only speciality tool needed is a sprocket remover/ chain whip tool.  I have tested them on and off over the past few weeks leading up to my race. My tests, not very scientific, are based off of my average speed and feel while using AeroJacket disc covers show they increase my average speed up to 4 MPH.  Cheat the wind increasing your aerodynamics with an AeroJacket without taking a huge chunk out of your wallet.
