A look back at Dawn to Dusk, a race in early December 2022

 I had a blast, competing on a team of four adults while my son was on a team of four juniors. A fun flowing 16 mile loop at McDowell Mountain Regional Park here in Arizona. 

A great time with fellow coaches from the high school season I coach. Looking forward to competing next year again.

This is a celebration in photos of my son and his 2019 NICA season.

I am so excited and proud of my son.  

Finishing off the NICA season strong. He started and finished every race in the series. 

Starting training back in April earlier this year. 

He learned a lot along the way, as so did I. 

From bike issues and some nutrition advice, he did great. 

A race, halfway through the season, the derailleur snapped off his bike. He had help in getting the bike to roll, then ended up pushing the bike with his legs on either side to the finish. 

I was proud of him in his determination to finish the race.  

He is looking forward to the 2020 season. 

I want him to keep having fun and bring him out on the trails with me to keep him active. 

The last few corners of the last race this season I will always remember. 

He had the biggest smile on his face before he rode by me. I yelled his name and in response he rang the bell on his bike as he rolled by. 

THE Pole, Bluetooth Monopod

I know I have reviewed other selfie poles before, but wait this one is different is a great new addition. First off THE Pole, bluetooth wireless monopod extends out 39 inches or three feet, 3 inches. THE Pole comes with a charging cable and GoPro mount as well as a spring loaded clamp for holding your bluetooth enabled smartphone. The spring clamp measures 2 inches before being pulled apart to about 3 1/4 inches to insert your phone into.  THE Pole supports Android 4.3 and iOS 4.  Here is where the coolest and addition to this is. You have the option to control the zoom in or out using the  +/- buttons when it is paired with a Samsung device!  This is great for those who have older Samsung smartphones or who have not updated there operating systems.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 so this feature will not work on mine, but I have paired it with an other Samsung smartphone and it does work.  I have been told by THE Pole's manufacturer that an upgraded Bluetooth chip will be installed in later models of THE Pole, yet the one I have is older.

Take Your Kid to Walk Day!

Garmin GPS Forerunner 205

Saturday, I brought my 3-year-old son, Alex, to walk along with me while I covered Pat's Run in Tempe. I wanted to cover the run/walk different this year, so I walked along with participants in the event, shooting photos along the way. The 4.2 mile walk took us a little over an hour. I was able to meet a lot of nice people while walking along with them. The event has grown in participants every year, and this year over 28,000 participants gathered to honor fallen Army Ranger Pat Tillman.
