Winis "Wind Tour" lightweight socks

Winis "Wind Tour" lightweight socks

While looking for some new hiking socks I have found these Winis lightweight sockets a great companion. The pair of socks are made of 45 percent Coolmax polyester, 45 percent cotton, eight percent nylon and two percent Lycra Spandex. The cushiony cotton makes these socks comfortable, yet not bulky, while the wicking properties of the Coolmax polyester and the Lycra Spandex help with the stretchability. The socks wick sweat away from your feet, keeping them cool and dry. Not only are these great for hiking, but I have used them for cycling and running. They are not thick and bulky and fit very nice even with my size 14 feet.

These socks are very comfortable and have helped me avoid blisters. I like the lower profile of the sock, as I am not a fan of high socks when wearing them to run or hike in. The stitching in the toe area does not bother my toes.  I would highly recommend these Winis Wind Tour socks to anyone looking for a great hiking sock.

Race Day a little over a month away

So I am signed up with three other friends to do the Showdown at Usery this year.  Last year I competed as a duo, doing four laps of the almost 11 mile course.  This year it will only be two laps as the four of us will be trading out who is riding. I rode the course Saturday morning for a training workout, not really out to set any blazing times or anything, but just get a feel for the course again and know where I need to made some adjustment in my training.  We have just a little over a month and a half before race day.  Saturday morning I struggled hard with riding eastbound looking directly into the sun.  I had a hard time navigating the trail and the washes and turns, I couldn’t wait until the sun was to my side or behind me.

Some of the washes on the course are a little thick with sand still, but that shouldn’t be a problem.  I will try and get out there a bunch more times leading up to race day.

Suunto "Moves Count" Mobile App update

I love to new Suunto Moves Count mobile app update.  I first noticed the update happened while uploading Bluetooth-wise the other day.  The synchronizing screen looked different.  The screens have changed a bit. The app has always been able to be used to manually add a "Move" or workout, and can use your smartphone as the device to captures your workout also.  I upload my Suunto Spartan with heart rate sensor.

Here is a video I made early this summer about the Suunto Spartan. Check it out if you have time.

Parateck Cycling Tights

These Parateck cycling compression tights/cycling pants with silicone pad are very comfortable.  The leg portions of the tights are thin but should be warm enough for some winter riding outdoors. There are two zippers at the bottom of each leg allowing for easy entry and can be closed to keep air flow from coming in. Behind the knee, there is a breathable mesh type of fabric. There is a small zippered pocket in the back of the pants for maybe your keys or a gel, but its not very big. There are reflective strips on the sides of the leg that could be useful in low light and night time to alert traffic you are on the road too. The gel pad in the crotch is nice and thick, yet not too thick. The shorts are made of 82 percent nylon and 18 percent spandex. I have used them for both road and mountain bike riding. When ordering, I would agree and strongly recommend ordering one size bigger than you typically wear.  The stitching is very well done. With all my cycling and compression gear, I recommend only hand washing and letting them hang to dry to extend the lifetime.
